Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on healing method that examines membranes and the movement of fluids in and around your central nervous system to remove restrictions in the body’s tissues. It’s built on the belief that the body is interconnected at all levels.

The craniosacral system includes the bones, nerves, fluids and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area. This whole-person approach to healing aims to improve the function of the central nervous system by balancing the fluids, bones and membrane structures around the brain and spinal cord.

The central nervous system governs all your physiological systems and functions. If your body can’t cope with the effects of injury, trauma or built-up stress, it can create restrictions to normal movement. Those restrictions can lead to pain and decreased function at the site of injury or other places in your body. Your craniosacral therapist follows the patterns of the restriction to their source and helps your body release to help restore proper function.

With over a century of discovery, practice and research, craniosacral therapy is an effective treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It’s appropriate for people of all ages and is applicable in acute and chronic situations.

A craniosacral therapist can help you if you have:

  • Headaches, migraines, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction

  • Stress, nervous tension, insomnia, anxiety, ADD/ADHD
