Meet Rose: Your Partner in Recovery and Wellness
After sustaining a disc injury while tree planting, I relocated to Victoria and quickly understood why it’s often called Canada’s most livable city. With its stunning views, inviting beaches, and lush parks, it didn’t take long to fall in love with this vibrant community. I enjoy relaxing at Willows Beach, biking around town, and exploring the Juan de Fuca Trail. Having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area to attend chiropractic college, I’m thrilled to return to Victoria. These days, you’ll often find me surfing (longboarding!) or snorkeling along Vancouver Island’s coastline. The water may be chilly, but the views are unmatched.
My journey toward chiropractic care began with a Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie University, where I focused on understanding addiction as a complex biopsychosocial disorder. I thrived on one-on-one interactions, supporting patients, and helping them navigate challenges with encouragement and care. This foundation, combined with my passion for exercise, health, and wellness, inspired me to pursue chiropractic care—a profession where I can empower others to achieve their best health.
Building a Strong Clinical Foundation
During my studies, I completed two unique practicums that profoundly shaped my approach to chiropractic care.
Department of Defense Veterans Affairs Hospital – Redding, California
At the VA Hospital, I had the privilege of working with veterans managing a wide range of injuries, from long-term effects of combat training to acute injuries sustained in new careers. This role provided invaluable insight into the complex physical and psychological impacts of trauma on the human body. Observing advanced procedures, such as facet joint injections and nerve blocks performed by orthopedic spinal surgeons under fluoroscopic guidance, deepened my understanding of when interventional care may complement conservative treatments.
Motor Vehicle Accident Rehabilitation – Berkeley, California
At a specialized clinic in Berkeley, I worked hands-on with patients recovering from motor vehicle accidents. Managing conditions like whiplash-associated disorders and rotator cuff injuries, I utilized the clinic’s integrated gym environment to develop tailored rehabilitation strategies. These experiences emphasized the importance of active patient participation in recovery, a principle that continues to guide my practice.
Empowering Patients Through Active Care
My practice focuses on empowering patients with personalized, effective exercise programs that align with their unique goals and lifestyles. While traditional chiropractic care is often viewed as passive, I integrate active care strategies to encourage movement and exercises that support recovery. This approach helps patients take an active role in their health, fostering greater independence and reducing reliance on practitioners in the long term.
By blending rehabilitation exercises, soft tissue therapy, and traditional adjustments, I work collaboratively with each patient to create care plans that address their specific needs. Whether you’re a competitive athlete, recovering from an accident, or a busy parent managing chronic pain, my goal is to help you regain function, reduce pain, and achieve long-term wellness.
When I’m not in the clinic, I’m likely out exploring Vancouver Island’s rugged beauty or catching waves on my longboard. I look forward to meeting you and helping you move toward your best health!
