If you’ve ever worked with Mel, you’ll know right away — his care comes with skill, compassion, and a genuine desire to see you thrive.
As Acacia’s lead clinician for shockwave therapy, Mel blends over 15 years of physiotherapy and healthcare experience with an attentive, one-on-one approach. He listens closely, takes time to understand your unique needs, and creates a recovery plan that’s as personal as your story — helping you return to what you love with confidence and reduced risk of re-injury.
Why Mel Became a Physiotherapist
For Mel, physiotherapy isn’t just a profession — it’s a calling rooted in a deeply personal experience.
“Growing up in the Philippines, I always knew that pursuing a medical career was expensive and often out of reach for families like mine. But I had so much admiration for healthcare professionals. That became deeply personal when my dad was hospitalized due to complications from diabetes.
Even though it was such a hard time, I was struck by how his doctors and nurses treated him with genuine compassion, respect, and care. When he passed away, I knew I wanted to be someone who could support others like that, especially during their most vulnerable moments.
Physiotherapy in the Philippines is one of the strongest pre-medical programs, and it felt like a realistic and meaningful way to get started in healthcare. Looking back, I’m so glad I chose this path. Being a physio has allowed me to help people move better, feel better, and take back their independence — something I wish my dad had more of in his last few years.
Now, as a physiotherapist in Canada, I feel truly grateful. I get to work alongside amazing healthcare professionals and, more importantly, I get to share my care and skills with people who need it. It’s a constant reminder of why I started this journey in the first place.”
When you work with Mel, you’re in the hands of someone who treats every client with the same care, respect, and dedication he wished for his own father — and that makes all the difference.
