The Family Naturopathic Clinic

A Naturopathic Clinic Serving Young Families

The first and only clinic of its kind in Canada, the Family Naturopathic Clinic provides naturopathic health care free-of-charge to low income families here in Victoria, BC.

The Family Naturopathic Clinic (FNC) is a joint project of Acacia Health, the FNC Care Society, and the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.

Starting as a pilot project by Dr. Gilchrist in the spring of 2007, The Family Naturopathic Clinic has become a huge success both in utilization by the target population (it has been fully booked since inception) and in outcomes for patients and their families.  In the summer of 2009, Acacia, Dr. Gilchrist and Dr. Schurr partnered with the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine with the intention of expanding access in order to serve a long wait-list of clients.  What developed was a partnership, where 4th year Naturopathic Interns come to Acacia to deliver care, supervised by a licensed ND.  This provides these upcoming doctors with valuable clinical experience, while effectively tripling the number of patients we can treat.

Young parents who are interested in this service are free to call the FNC booking linefor more information or to make an appointment (contact information below). Space is quite limited and is reserved for low-income families.

About The FNC Care Society

The FNC Care Society is a non-profit society whose aim is to support and empower young-parented families through the provision of free naturopathic care, while providing naturopathic interns access to high quality clinical internships with this same population.  The FNC Care Society operates the free clinic at Acacia Health and serves low-income, young-parented families in British Columbia’s Capital Region.

The FNC Society relies on generous donations from the community. Special thanks to the Whitewood Foundation, Dr. Pam Hutchison, Acacia Health, the BC Naturopathic Association, and Nutritional Fundamentals for Health. We also thank our team of Supervising Doctors (Dr. Jaime de Melo and Dr Carla Cashin), our wonderful interns and our Board of Directors (Dr. Kristin Schnurr, Dr. Amy Gilchrist, Graham Robertson, Dr. Carla Cashin, Dr. Jeannie Achuff, and Dr. Jaime de Melo).
