Overview
Osteopathic manual therapists believe abnormal function in one area of the body can cause symptoms to present elsewhere in the body. When there is balance, minimal stress exists but when the body becomes out of balance, stress from one area can be amplified to other areas.
Osteopathic treatment can help if you have:
- Back pain and/or sciatica
- Digestive and gastrointestinal symptoms
- Tendinitis and Arthritis
- A baby with symptoms such as colic, reflux, torticollis or birth trauma

Osteopathy is a manual therapy that focuses on the relationship between structure and function in the body.
Osteopathic manual therapists assess and treat disorders of the body that can be related to the pelvis, joints, muscles, organs, nervous systems or spine. Osteopathic practitioners perform light touch and small movements triggering the rebalance of the body. Over time, this tends to improve function, reduce pain and restore normal activity.
These therapists recognize the body’s natural ability to heal itself and seek to support that process by removing any obstacles that impede it. They may also suggest exercises and lifestyle changes to help the body’s own healing ability.
