Carlene has always been fascinated with internal medicine and human physiology, so when she found her way to Pacific Rim College, it was a natural fit. She spent three years studying the limitless world of holistic nutrition, something she believes sets the foundation for all approaches to healthcare. Through her comprehensive studies of Ayurvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Conventional Western Medicine, Carlene has become extremely passionate about understanding and exploring all of the elements that contribute to each person’s well-being on a biochemical, energetic and psycho-emotional level. Along with her studies, Carlene has focused much of her research on athletic performance, food sensitivities and the effects of food and environment on emotional well being. She also has a special interest in chronic conditions such as diabetes, skin conditions, thyroid disorders and therapeutic diets.
Of all of the lessons that Carlene has learned, there is one that will always hold a spot in the foundation of her practice: the body knows best. That is why no two sessions with Carlene will ever be the same. She conducts her sessions knowing that each person she works with is completely unique and has needs that change day to day. Carlene is committed to helping every client achieve accessible, inspiring and sustainable food and lifestyle changes.
Carlene leads a double life, spending the other half of her time in the dance studio training and rehearsing with Broken Rhythms, a local Victoria-based dance company. She’s has no doubt in her mind that doing what you love to do is just as essential to your well-being as any food that you eat.
Carlene will never stop learning. Through on-going workshops, courses, seminars and self-study, she commits herself to expanding her knowledge and keeping up to date on recent research and discoveries in her field. She loves to collaborate with other practitioners and opens herself up to all perspectives of healthcare.
